This wedding blog is one I have been excited about sharing with you for a long time. Mike and Michelle had quite the adventure for their wedding and I was so honored to be a part of it! They are two of the kindest people I have met!
When Michelle first reached out to me about her wedding with Mike, I was about a month shy of giving birth to twin boys. At that time I was unsure of the path my business was going to take - taking care of three kids and running a business was going to be a lot! So I was preparing to regretfully take some time away from my photography. However, after some discussions with my husband, I decided to take on some limited work for the following year and just see how things went. Turns out that was one of the best decisions I have ever made for my business. I am still keeping things going with my business, choosing my future work selectively and my clients are all so wonderful!
Anyway... After going back and forth with Michelle a little about what they were planning, I knew Michelle and Mike's wedding day was one the ones I wanted to be a part of!
Mike and Michelle are 46-ers, and Whiteface Mountain was their last peak. The plan was to hike up Whiteface, have the ceremony at the top, and then the following day get all dressed up and tour the area taking photos.
I was all for it! Unfortunately, what I didn't anticipate with the twins and my two (going on 20) year old, any kind of personal time to prep myself post-pregnancy was super limited, and turned out to be practically impossible! However, after explaining my concerns to Michelle, she still was cool with me hiking it, despite knowing I would be slow going.
So at a little while after sunrise on a beautiful late summer day, I met Mike, Michelle, their dog Lily and a small crew of their friends and family to hike Whiteface Mountain. It was quite the adventure and one I am so proud to have accomplished.
I wanted to take a quick moment and give a big thank you to Mike, Michelle and their crew for being so patient while we stopped a bunch of times for breaks and photos along the way... You guys were all so awesome! I am so proud to say I made it to the top, and although it was a challenge for me, it has turned into the start of something else for me as well. :)
The ceremony at the top was perfect! We met up with a small group of their friends and family and they tied the knot with the gorgeous view of the Adirondacks behind them. Michelle and Mike wrote their own vows and they were beautiful!
The next day, we headed back to the top of Whiteface Mountain for more photos, this time in full bridal attire. It was full sun with very few clouds and lots of wind! But we made the most of it, and I love the wind blowing Michelle's veil and hair and the way the sun bounced off them during photos.
Their wedding adventure finished with their reception out near Syracuse the following weekend. We did a few more portraits and some fun night shots.
So please stick the blog out to the end; the images are worth it!
